City of Yuma's Shred Day: Protect yourself from identity theft and help HSOY

A FREE SHRED DAY to help prevent ID Theft will be held in conjunction with the City of Yuma’s Quarterly Household Hazardous Waste Collection on Saturday, October 13, 2007 from 8am until 12 noon and is open to all Yuma County residents.

The Shred-day will be held at the City of Yuma Public Works Yard at 265 W. 13th Street (2nd Avenue & 13th Street - adjacent to Time Warner Cable). Residents may turn-in one file box (approximately 40 lbs per household) of personal papers, cancelled checks, etc. for destruction by strip-shredding. (No Business records will be accepted) There is no need to remove staples, binders or clips. There is NO CHARGE for this service.

All shredded residue is baled into 1,100 lb bales and shipped directly to a paper mill where it is recycled into consumer paper goods. Proceeds from the sale of the residue will be donated to the Humane Society of Yuma County. The company donating this service provides document destruction services to businesses throughout Yuma County. Information and literature about preventing Identity Theft will also be provided.
